What is Trailborn Highlands?
We’re a redesigned and renovated 63-room Highlands, NC hotel. We’re located on a serene 4.5 acres that includes Highlands Supper Club, a restaurant housed in a historic Joe Webb log cabin. Our property feels tucked away while town is still within walking distance.
Do you have a restaurant on property?
Yes. Our restaurant Highlands Supper Club is on-property. It is tucked away behind the hotel in a historic Joe Webb log cabin and serves impeccably prepared Southern fare. Highlands Supper Club is slated to open early this fall. Stay tuned!
Are you within walking distance to shops and restaurants?
Our hotel is within walking distance to downtown Highlands that offers numerous shopping and dining experiences.
Do you have a pool?
No. We do not have a pool. However, we are going to be opening a Nordic Spa late summer 2024. Also, if you are looking for a place to cool off, ask us at the front desk and we can point you to local swim holes and waterfalls.
Do you have any recommendations for activities or restaurants in Highlands?
If you are able, we of course recommend that you experience the hikes, waterfalls and natural beauty of the area. We also offer a variety of experiences both on-site at the hotel and off-site with local partners. You can find our team’s local recommendations on our website where you’ll find our Field Guide. Room types
What’s the difference between room types?
Base amenities, such as in-room Huck coffee, Grown Alchemist bath products, and picnic baskets are present in every room. The rooms differ in bed type, number of beds, and overall size. Some rooms have balconies, others walk out into our back garden. Please reach out if you have specific questions regarding your reservation and room type
How many people can you fit in a room?
Rooms with standard king beds can accommodate up to two guests, Rooms with two queen beds can accommodate up to four guest. Suite rooms vary. Please contact us with any further questions.
Do the rooms have fireplaces?
We have 16 guest rooms with a fireplace. The fireplaces are gas and available for guests to turn on and enjoy.
Do you have rollaway beds or cribs?
Unforunately, we do not offer rollaway beds or cribs at this time.
What is included in each room?
You will receive a Guide to Your Stay during check-in, which will inform your stay at the property. It includes everything from a property map, how to access WiFi, how to use the in-room amenities, restaurant hours, where to book experiences, and much more.
In all of our guest rooms, you will find:
– Grown Alchemist shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap
– Huckleberry Roasters instant coffee with a Fellow electric kettle and Trailborn mugs
– Picnic baskets to borrow during your stay or purchase after at the Market, and
– A Tivoli bluetooth speaker, and
– Parachute Robes

Cancellations and Hotel Policies
What’s your cancellation policy?
We require 48 hour notice for cancellations i.e 2 days before you check-in by 3:59 PM. Otherwise, we charge for 1 night room + tax.
Is your hotel pet-friendly?
Yes! Some of the rooms at our hotel are dog-friendly.
Is there a cost to bring my dog?
Yes. There is a $35/day pet-fee.
How many dogs can I have in my room?
You can have up to two dogs under 40 lbs in your room. For specific questions pertaining to your specific dog, please reach out to us directly.
Is there a size restriction for dogs?
We do currently have a weight restriction of under 40 lbs. If you have questions pertaining to your specific dog, please feel free to reach out to us directly at (855) 870-3992 (use a specific pet policy number).
Can I bring my cat?
No. Unfortunatley, we do not allow cats at Trailborn Highlands.
Does the charge include food, access to a dog park?
No. You are responsible for providing your dog with food, and ensuring that they are walked/exercised. Please remember to clean up after your pups and keep them leashed!
What do you include for pets?
We will have a food and water bowl for your room and a Trailborn bandana! There is a pet shop just a short walk away if there’s anything else you need during your stay.
Are you kid/family friendly?
Yes! We love kids and families. 😀

How far are you from the Blue Ridge Parkway?
The easiest, and closest entrance to the Blue Rigdge Parkway is in Balsam, about 26 miles from Highlands.
How far are you from Smoky Mountains National Park?
The easiest, and closest entrance to the Blue Rigdge Parkway is in Balsam, about 26 miles from Highlands. However, traveling a bit further to Bryson City, about 50 miles, will give you access to can’t miss attractions like the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, Nantahala Outdoor for whitewater rafting and more.
Do I need a pass/reservation for Smoky Mountains National Park?
Smoky Mountains National Park does not charge an entrance fee or require reservations. Visit: https://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit to plan your visit and learn about fees for parking and other important information.
