What’s the difference between Trailborn Rocky Mountains and Trailborn Rocky Mountains Outpost?

Both Estes Park hotels are very similar in terms of room furnishings and amenities. The primary difference is that Casa Colina, our restaurant, is on premises at Trailborn Rocky Mountains. Also, Trailborn Rocky Mountains Outpost has a continental breakfast, while Trailborn Rocky Mountains does not.

One temporary but notable difference is that at Trailborn Rocky Mountains, housekeeping will attend to your room daily, while at Trailborn Rocky Mountains Outpost, housekeeping does not. However, daily housekeeping is available at Trailborn Rocky Mountains Outpost by requesting with the Front Desk at check-in.

Room Types

What’s the difference between room types?

Base amenities, such as in-room Huck coffee, Grown Alchemist bath products, and soft-side coolers are present in every room. The rooms differ in bed type, number of beds, and overall size. Also, at Rocky Mountains Outpost some rooms have a balcony, whereas others do not.

What’s the difference between similar room types at different properties?

While base amenities remain the same, the room layouts and size may be different both from room to room and at Rocky Mountains and Rocky Mountains Outpost.

How many people can you fit in a room?

Rooms with standard king beds can accommodate up to two guests. Rooms with two queen beds can accommodate up to four guests. Suite rooms vary. Please contact us at rockymountains-reservations@trailborn.com with any further questions.

Do you have rollaway beds or cribs?

Yes! We have pack and plays available upon request on a first come first serve basis.

In all of our guest rooms you will find:

Is your bar and restaurant open?

Yes! Casa Colina is open at Trailborn Rocky Mountains.

Do both properties have a restaurant and bar?

No, only Trailborn Rocky Mountains has a restaurant, bar and café—Casa Colina, a vibrant Mexican café, bar, and restaurant at Trailborn Rocky Mountains is your pre- and post-adventure hangout spot. 

Is there a restaurant at Rocky Mountains Outpost?

No, there is no restaurant at Rocky Mountains Outpost. However, there is a mercantile onsite with grab and go food options, snacks and a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Also, Rocky Mountains Outpost has a complimentary continental breakfast.

What is Casa Colina?

Casa Colina is our café, restaurant and bar located at Trailborn Rocky Mountains. There is strong coffee and breakfast offered during the day, and strong drinks and dinner offered at night.

Is breakfast included?

A continental breakfast is included at Rocky Mountains Outpost. Breakfast is not included at Trailborn Rocky Mountains. All rooms do have a magically instant coffee option from Colorado-based Huckleberry Roasters.

Cancellations and Hotel Policies

What’s your cancellation policy?

We require 48 hour notice for cancellations i.e 2 days before you check-in by 3:59 PM. Otherwise, we charge for 1 night room + tax.

What are check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is at 4pm. Check-out is 11am. Late check-out may be available for a fee, please speak to a front desk agent for details.

Are you kid/family friendly?

Yes! We love kids and families. 😀

Is your hotel pet-friendly?

Yes! Our hotel is pet-friendly. Pets are permitted in our 1st-floor guest rooms for a fee. Please be sure to let us know when you make a reservation if you plan on bringing your furry friend by giving us a call or sending us an email at rockymountains-reservations@trailborn.com.

Is there a cost to bring my pet?

Yes. There is a daily pet fee at both Trailborn Rocky Mountains and Trailborn Rocky Mountains Outpost. Please be sure to let us know when you make a reservation if you plan on bringing your furry friend by giving us a call or sending us an email at rockymountains-reservations@trailborn.com.

How many pets can I have in my room?

You can have up to two dogs under 40 lbs in your room.

Is there a size restriction for pets?

We do currently have a weight restriction of under 40 lbs per dog. No more than 2 pets are allowed per room.

Does the charge include food, access to a dog park?

No. You are responsible for providing your dog with food, and ensuring that they are walked/exercised. Please remember to clean up after your pups and keep them leashed!

What do you include for pets?

We will have a food and water bowl for your room! There is a pet shop just a short walk away if there’s anything else you need during your stay.

How far are you from Rocky Mountain National Park?

Both of our properties are about 10-15 mins from the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park.

Do I need a pass or reservation for Rocky Mountain National Park?

All visitors to Rocky Mountain National Park during the high season (May 26 through October 22) need a timed entry permit and a park entrance pass. Other times of To learn more, please visit the National Park’s website by clicking here.

Can you get our parks pass/reservation for us?

At this time, we cannot. However, we are going to figure out if this is a service that we can offer. If so, we will update this answer!

How far are you from Estes Park?

We’re in Estes Park. Our Trailborn Rocky Mountains location is just a 10 minute walk from downtown. We also have complimentary bikes that you can borrow. Our Outpost location is about a mile up the road.

Do you host weddings on your property?

I’m getting married in Estes Park, can my guests book at your hotel?

Do you have any group rates?

Do you have a conference center?

No. Unfortunately, we do not have a conference center. That said, reach out by filling out our inquiry form and we can see if we can work something out for you.

What experiences do you offer during my stay?

Visit our Experiences Page for up-to-date information on all of our complimentary and bookable experiences. All experiences are available for guests of Trailborn Rocky Mountains and the Outpost. On-site experiences are hosted at Trailborn Rocky Mountains. Off-site experiences will meet in the Trailborn Rocky Mountains lobby before heading into the park.

How do I book an experience?

You can book experiences directly on our website. For specific questions please reach out to us directly.

Do I need to book my experiences in advance?

Yes, each of our experiences has different advanced booking rules (never more than 3 days). Experiences can be booked in advance from our Experiences Page. If there is an experience you would really like to participate in at the last minute, please speak to our onsite team and they will do their best to arrange.

Will there be other guests or are these private experiences?

Our experiences are open to all guests, however, you may book all spots in an experience or be the only group to book an experience.

Where do offsite experiences leave from? Is transportation provided?

All offsite experiences leave from the Trailborn Rocky Mountains lobby unless otherwise noted that specified transportation is provided.

Are experiences open to non-guests?

At this time off-site experiences are for guests only. Onsite programs are for guests only unless otherwise noted. Events at Casa Colina are always open to the public.
